EDBCO11 Blu-ray Disc™ Player Update

What is firmware?
Just as computers require software to run, a Blu-ray player requires firmware to run. Firmware is a type of computer program that resides inside the hardware device and makes it possible to play movies and access other features.

Purpose of firmware
The great thing about firmware is that it can be easily updated, so even though a Blu-ray player might not support a feature when it is released that feature might be added later as long as the hardware can support it. Firmware updates can also fix problems with existing features and offer other improvements.

Hardware problems
If you experience any problems with your hardware, whether it's a player or anything else, the first thing you should do is to make sure that you have the latest firmware installed. If not, then it's very likely that a firmware update will solve your problem.

Step 1: Burn the Blu-ray Firmware Update firmware on a disc:
Download the Blu-ray Firmware Update file unto your desktop or in any folder you can easily locate. Create the firmware data disc by copying the total 16 files in the folder onto your CD-R disc folder (The disc should have just the 16 files and no folders.)

Step 2: Turn on the Blu-ray player without any disc in the player. (the LED display on your player shows “no disc”), on your remote control, press "SETUP" → "General" → "Update Firmware" → "CDROM". The unit's disc tray will open automatically. Throughout the process, please use “Enter” button to confirm your choice.

Step 3: Put the firmware disc in the tray, and slowly push the tray in until the door closes. Although the player might seem inactive, wait 5 minutes for the player to process.

Step 4: Press the “Enter” button on your remote control to confirm the request on your TV screen asking if you want to run the update firmware.

Step 5: The upgrade process shall start automatically. You are going to see a brief black screen on your TV and then the Element welcome screen. The LED display on your player will show “UPDATING” and then different file names.

Step 6: In about 8 minutes, the tray will open and close automatically. After the player loads the disc again, your TV screen should show “Title List” page. The upgrade process is completed at this point. Please press "OPEN" button on the front panel of the unit or on the remote control and remove the firmware disc.

Step 7: Now you can verify the new version of the firmware on your player. Please press "SETUP" → "General" → "Update Firmware" → "Software Version", and you should see this line at the bottom: “Subversion: BD100-090121-USA”. After verifying the firmware version, please press “SETUP” button again to go back to the normal status.

Step 8: After finishing above steps, please power off and then on the unit. This will conclude the upgrade process.
